Summer Holiday Treats Around Bath, Chew Valley & North Somerset
It's school holiday time so most campsites are filling with excited youngsters shrieking with joy and kicking balls around. Time to choose a tranquil, garden style adult only caravan park for peace and relaxation after a day out touring.
Roman Baths’ Torchlight Experience, Bath, nightly to 31 August
Experience the amazing atmosphere of the Great Bath lit by torchlight. The Roman Baths are now open for evening tours from 9am until 10pm daily with tickets from £16.65 online.
Or, for a very special occasion, there’s also a torchlight and dinner experience with entertainment and a Prosecco bar. See more here.
Bank Holiday Weekend 23-28 August
Do remember to book your pitch early for August Bank Holiday. There will be lots to see and do around Chew Valley, though our choice is the spectacle of the
Wells Moat Race by the lovely Wells Bishops Palace and Gardens. It really is a very
entertaining Bank Holiday Monday in this beautiful city
Boat Tours: Bath and Bristol
Beat the heat with cool water tours around our two wonderful cities:
Bath, Pulteney Cruisers Avon Tours
Pulteney Bridge cruisers ply the River Avon from Bath's Pulteney Bridge Weir every 40mins through Summer. The sightseeing cruise to Bathampton takes 30mins, where you can disembark and explore the pretty village.
Bristol Historic Harbour Tours
Bristol Harbour bustles with visiting vessels and ferryboats through the holidays. For real atmosphere, book a tour aboard the sailing ship Matthew through Avon Gorge or around the harbour. Brightly coloured Bristol Ferries Boats
will transport you around the harbour while Bristol Packet Boat Tours also offer excursions.
Let's not forget our lovely Somerset Coast
Just an half-hour drive takes you to the traditional seaside and pier resort at Weston-Super-Mare with its miles of golden sands, donkeys and
fish and chips (of course). If you prefer less 'resort' and more coast, you can find it at Brean Down National Trust,
Sand Point National Trust Coast Walk or the attractive pier resort at Clevedon.
Discover Brunel's Clifton Suspension Bridge
Take the Free guided walking tour of Bristol Suspension Bridge each Sunday until October. No booking necessary, just meet up on the Bristol (Observatory) side of the bridge at 3pm. Enthusiasts might like to try a
Hard-hat Tour into the bridge abutments deep within the cliffs below Leigh Woods.
Cheddar Gorge & The Mendip Hills
Mid-Summer is a wonderful time to explore the dramatic 400ft cliffs at the top of Cheddar Gorge and take in the wonderful views across the Somerset plains and coast. See What's on in Cheddar Gorge during your stay.
Motorhomers wishing to explore the pretty lanes and by-ways across the Mendip Hills can book the park’s own economic hire car from just £4 an hour. During the peak holiday season, leaving your pride and joy safely on your pitch could be the most relaxed way to enjoy the countryside views.
